You came into the world to be the school of all humanity.
In
you, maidens learn to keep for Me the white lilies of their purity;
In you the old and the young ,the rich and the poor, the wise and the ignorant
learn;
In you all learn to love Me in the suffering, to take up their cross.
In this month of Advent, as we approach Christmas, we invite
young people to listen to the lesson of Alexandrina about “the Dear Mother”, a
name with which she affectionately assigned to Our Lady. It will help them to
live under the indispensable "shadow" of Her "mantle" and to understand better
the liturgical celebrations that are approaching.
Alexandrina usually didn’t write poems, but her writing rose
frequently above common prose, and took on the flavour of poetry. What follows
are small texts from her Autograph Daily, which I present as free verse
(as others have done).
Keep me always, Dear Mother!
Only in the shadow of your mantle,
Wrapped in the tenderness of your Heart,
Buried in this abyss of love,
Can I live with the certainty of not offending Jesus.
Keep me always, Dear Mother!
Always You, Dear Mother!
You are blessed among women!
Only You, O Mother, are immaculate!
God Created You so pure and beautiful, shining
star;
Queen of Heaven, You are more than the Angels
and the Archangels.
God filled You
With such affection,
So white and pure,
More than the ermine!
Anyone who dared to impeach You
Falls by the wayside!
Oh, how beautiful and immaculate you are!
Honour and glory to the Lord on high!
At last the day of my joy has arrived
Because everything is truly devoted to my dear Mother!
O Virgin of the Assumption, O Immaculate Mother,
More pure and beautiful than the Angels!
Lord has created You so pure, so pure,
With His Own purity, has created You to be His Mother.
Oh, how beautiful and immaculate You are,
In You there is no stain of sin!
O Heavens, speak to me,
Acclaim the Mother of the Lord and our Mother for me,
The Queen of Heavens and of Earth!
Dear Mother, I am yours, make me pure!
Congratulations, O Dear Mother!
Congratulations, congratulations, o Dear Mother!
I renew the consecration of my total offering:
Body, soul, virginity, purity and all my being.
I place everything in the arms of Jesus.
Please thank the most Holy Trinity in my name:
The Father, for having created You;
The Son, for having deigned to descend to your womb;
And to the Holy Spirit, for begetting Jesus, of whom you are Mother.
Dear Mother, look my desires, accepts my prayers, hear my
secrets,
and have compassion on me.
Give me your blessing and your love!
A Nosegay of my pains
Dear Mother, be blessed and praised!
I greet You, O full of grace! Congratulations, O Dear Mother!
When will I spend a day with You in Heaven?
O, what a great longing! O, what a great homesickness!
I wanted to give You on this day, O my sweet Mother,
A gift of the highest value;
But I am very poor, I have nothing.
I consecrate to You once more my virginity and my purity,
my body and my soul, with all its being.
Accept also a nosegay
of my pains, the agonies of my soul, the
anguishes and the daggers that already nail my heart.
They are sad, very sad flowers, Dear Mother, but bouquets
of resignation.
Take them from my nothingness,
Because everything has been stolen from me.
I cannot speak any more, read my heart instead.
O my blessed Mother, I greet You and I congratulate You!
I am yours, all yours and I give everything to You for Jesus.
I cannot speak anymore; read in me what my heart wants to
tell You, and Offer You.
Poor Alexandrina!
Dear Mother, in You I see light, peace and love
Dear Mother, in You I see light, peace and love. Burn me,
fire in me the love that consumes You, keep me in your Heart. Yes, Dear Mother,
with you I love Jesus and I always conquer with humiliations.
Give me purity, give me love
O my beloved Mother, how many favours,
how many graces you have given me! You are my Mother,
but, O, a Mother without equal!
With what affection, with what love you have guided me to
Jesus!
O Dear Mother, how badly I have corresponded to your love!
Give me purity; give me love.
Let us abandon ourselves
to our Dear Mother
In imitation of the Child Jesus, let us abandon ourselves to
the Dear Mother.
Let us abandon ourselves to be led by Her.
We have nothing whatever to fear:
we are in no danger of making a mistake.
The young, to whom this page is mainly dedicated, may not, so
far, have found subjects treated in a manner suitable to their age. However,
learning (in this case the intensity of the fire behind the language of
spiritual love) is not always a short-term acquisition, not always
instantaneous. Hopefully, however, in the future there will be matter and
expression for them to absorb and to delight in.
